FOR OUR WATERS
AGAINST NESTLE AND ITS WORLD
In recent years, the numerous scandals linked to Nestlé in particular, and to other major companies like Danone, Alma, and Coca-Cola in the bottled water industry in general, have made headlines. With implications reaching the Élysée Palace, these affairs have profoundly affected French society, yet no opportunity has presented itself to express our outrage en masse in the streets.
From March 23 to 27, 2026, Nestlé will be on trial in Nancy for the illegal plastic dumping around Vittel. To support the legal team of Lorraine Nature Environnement and the collectif EAU 88, the STOP BOTTLING coalition has decided to make a statement by organizing a GRAND CARNIVAL FOR WATER AGAINST NESTLE AND ITS WORLD on Saturday, March 28th, with the support of XR Nancy and Soulevements de la Terre 54. In contrast to Nestlé’s toxic and gloomy world, this carnival will be resolutely festive, popular, and determined to remind everyone that water is an inalienable common good!
Throughout the week, a multifaceted mobilization will take place in Nancy to raise awareness of the legal proceedings and prepare for the carnival-like trial of the water hoarders during the carnival. On the agenda: actions in the streets of Nancy, conferences to discuss water hoarding, creative workshops to bring the carnival to life, and the collective animation of Hydromédia, an activist radio station and participatory media platform created for the occasion to amplify the legal proceedings and forge connections between water struggles in France and internationally. There will also be a walk in on Sunday to protest the Alma bottling plant project in Dieuze, 50km away from Nancy
To make this week and this carnival a powerful moment of mobilization for water, land, and life, we invite all individuals and groups who are able to do so to converge en masse on Nancy or to organize carnival-like events throughout France, Europe, and beyond. We will show the giants of the agri-food industry who are poisoning our health and our planet that we don’t want their world!
We are water, we are water, even if Nestlé doesn’t want us to be, we are water, for the honor of our rivers and for the reclamation of our land, we are water!
